This cistern installation fit into the preschool curriculum at Southwest, which includes learning about native plants and animals, gardening, and water harvesting. Over 3,000 square feet of roof drain to one single downspout on this building, around which preschoolers learned how water can be harvested, by catching this water in buckets for their garden (below).

TFS installed a cistern that will fill in about 1" of rain off their large roof, and overflow to a playground tree in larger storms. Now, children learn first hand how rainwater can be saved for use during dry months. This rainwater will be used to hand water their student-managed garden containing vegetables and wildlife plants.
