Technicians for Sustainability is interested in hiring an individual with a demonstrated commitment to sustainability and a passion for solar energy to join our inspired team working in commercial sales and outreach.
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic people-person to join our commercial solar sales team. This is a person with the unique combination of technical & communication skills able to guide customers and help them find the right solar solution for their business. Responsibilities include:
• Sales of commercial solar electric and hot water systems
• Conduct site visit and evaluation, including analysis of current and projected energy usage, and financial return on investment
• Educate potential customers about options and solar solutions to best meet their facilities energy needs
• Calculate and design appropriate system(s)
• Present customers with sales proposals and provide additional information as necessary
• Close agreements and sign contracts with customers
• Communicate with project manager regarding system designs
• Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction of product and process
• Log all communications with customers in contact database
• Develop leads through solar advocacy and community outreach opportunities
• Public speaking, presentations, education and community outreach

• Communicate information effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to connect with potential customers in a meaningful way
• Ability to prioritize and complete a variety of simultaneous tasks with a high level of organization and attention to detail
• Excellent follow through and time management skills

• Interested in a long-term career in the solar industry
• Ability to sell a premium product in a competitive marketplace
• Ability to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistical methodology, as well as strong spatial visualization skills
• Experience performing financial calculations (ROI, IRR, NPV, etc…)
• Working knowledge of construction practices, including familiarity with NEC, and ability to read/understand electrical, structural, and mechanical plans
• General understanding of electricity and electrical systems
• Comfort with on-site evaluations that involve analysis of building structure, mechanical systems, and roof-top data collection
• Ability to solve problems and find creative solutions
