They have already been benefitting from their solar hot water and rainwater harvesting systems, so installing a solar electric system was a natural step for these homeowners. They enjoy watching the numbers on their meter go backwards. This homeowner was excited to install solar hot water on her roof because they've "gotta go green!"  They loved the friendly TFS staff and even went so far as to say that working with Technicians for Sustainability is like working with family.  The Cooks think that the best thing about the system is the money savings that they saw right away and the feeling they get from using the sun.  They also use solar coils to heat their pool.

For this family, installing a hot water system was the right thing to do.  Their goal in installing the system was to reduce their fossil fuel dependence in order to preserve resources for the next generation.  According to these homeowners, the best thing about their new hot water system is that “the water is hot, hot, hot and it’s all from the sun.”  These El Encanto residents practice what they preach in other ways by getting their electricity from solar photovoltaic panels, by employing rainwater harvesting, and by driving a hybrid car.

The Gallegos household decided to install a PV system a few years ago, and have recently decided to add more panels to increase their electricity production.  Their large system helps offset the financial cost of medical equipment which was consuming a significant amount of electricity from the utility grid.  The Gallegos family is passionate about preserving our environment, and practice doing so by driving a hybrid car, using solar power to heat their pool and by recycling as much as possible.  This is not the first time the Gallegos have worked with TFS;  they have also installed a solar hot water system.  They enjoyed working with the TFS staff and said that the team was "pleasant, conscientious, and believes in what they do."  This family hopes that their new systems can allow them to lead by example and to share with future generations the importance of nurturing the earth.

Wil Schaefer and Mai Ho are fully aware of the environmental issues that have become problematic in this recent day and age. They believe that each human is capable of making a difference. These Tucson homeowners felt that installing PV is a personal change they could make that would push for a healthier planet. They are proud to own a system that helps diminish the release of CO2 into the atmosphere. Wil and Mai decided to go with TFS, because they heard TFS was "the best in town." They also told us that the "great folks at TFS were personable and knowledgeable."

Richard Clingaman and Dennis Embry both felt passionate about taking personal steps to combat global warming. They have taken big strides to insure that their home a working model of sustainability, by installing low-e glass windows, Heatstop Acrylic Skylights, and replacing their air conditioner and furnace with a new energy efficient model. Furthermore, Richard and Dennis are looking at additional actions, such as ordering a Nissan LEAF, they can take to further reduce their electricity usage and the burning of fossil fuels. Given the strong environmental values of these homeowners, installing a solar electric (PV) system seemed like a natural step. Richard and Dennis told us they appreciated that the installation crew was joyful, careful, and willing to teach them about the installation process. They also told us that they appreciated the care used to seal the roof to prevent any leakage and felt the installation of their system was "superb." Richard and Dennis enjoy how much extra energy their system is are generating and look forward to charging their new electric vehicle with renewable solar energy.

With the current credits and rebates that are available, the Fritz-Southern family knew it was the perfect time to make the switch to solar. This household strives to live within a small environmental footprint, and installing a solar electric system fit nicely with this goal. They were pleased to have all their questions answered,  and they enjoyed the fun and friendly nature of the TFS staff. The Fritz-Southern family loves watching the accumulation of kilowatt hours that their system produces and then showing off all of the energy to their friends and neighbors! This family also uses rainwater harvesting and a greywater system to irrigate their landscape and native vegetation.
