Technicians for Sustainability (TFS) is looking for an individual with a demonstrated commitment to sustainability, a high-level of organization, and excellent communication skills to work as the Solar Permit Coordinator.

The Solar Permit Coordinator combines elements of communication, digital organization, prioritization, processing, and documentation. This position is responsible for preparing solar permit submittal packages, and coordinating the efficient and timely submittal, approval, and retrieval from local jurisdictions. This position acts as a liaison between TFS and the authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), working together to resolve any redline corrections and prepare for upcoming requirement changes. The Solar Permit Coordinator communicates the status of each permit to internal teams, and works closely with our teams to move our mission forward

The Solar Permit Coordinator combines elements of communication, digital organization, prioritization, processing and documentation. This position works collaboratively between TFS departments and local permitting authorities to efficiently ensure the safe design and installation of the clean energy systems we install. Overall, the role will work to help advance the TFS mission of increasing successful adoption of solar energy and reducing the use and impact of fossil fuels in our community.

Essential Duties Include:

  • Review, prepare, submit, and retrieve permit packages in accordance with various jurisdictional requirements

  • Understand the different permitting requirements for each type of project and municipality to ensure projects move through the queue as efficiently as possible

  • Coordinate timely payment of permit fees and receipts management

  • Work with TFS drafting, permitting, and design teams and jurisdictional employees to understand and resolve any AHJ comments or requests for corrections

  • Be an advocate for TFS customers and work with AHJs to streamline permit processes

  • Understand AHJ requirements as it relates to the permit process and update the AHJ manuals on permitting requirements as needed.

  • Obtain customer signatures and final paperwork sign off, as needed

  • Organize all completed paperwork, and process payments in a compliant, secure manner, if assigned

  • Prepare project documentation for TFS field teams

  • Utilize software systems to record progress of various tasks

  • Proficient and accurate data entry into proprietary software

  • Additional duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing

  • Experience with conflict management skills

  • Understands the importance of task prioritization and has proven methods to self-accountability

  • Proficient in MS Office, Google Suite and adept at quickly learning web-based tools

  • Must maintain a clear driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check

  • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license

  • Must be a problem solver, self-motivated and collaborative- usually simultaneously!

  • Willingness to be coachable

  • Knowledge of solar energy a plus

Compensation based on experience, anticipated to start in $18-$20/hr base pay to start. Benefits include flex time/scheduling, health insurance, paid time off, profit sharing and Employee Sustainable Systems program.
