Do it in the dirt! Sunday, January 10th, 12 - 2 PM Workshop on how to effectively grow your on food in desert conditions. Includes: planting techniques, how to increase soil fertility for better tasting fruits and vegetables, higher yields, and nutrient content. Effective composting, vermiculture (worm composting), mulches, manures, organic soil amendments and soil organisms.

City Chicken Coop Tour

December 5, 2009 - 2nd Annual City Chicken Coop Tour, TucsonLearn about raising backyard chickens in the desert. From 10 AM to 3 PM participants in this self-guided tour can travel around town visiting designated backyards with resident poultry. On the tour, a wide variety of coops with be on display representing different sized flocks, unique coop designs, and a wide variety of coop construction materials. Owners of the coops will be on hand to answer questions about keeping chickens. Tickets for the tour cost $5 and all $5 from each ticket will be donated to a worthy local non-profit.
